From Shy and Anxious to Confident and Unstoppable
When Kaden Beltz was 8 years old, his mom kept seeing Mastery Martial Arts pop up on her Facebook feed. At the time, Kaden was struggling — shy, unfocused, and dealing with bad anxiety. She had heard that martial arts could help with exactly those kinds of challenges. So they gave it a try.
Kaden still remembers his very first class. He was surrounded by students who all knew what to do, while he had no idea. A form was called, and everyone moved — except him. It was overwhelming. It took time to find his footing.
Eight years later, that same kid is preparing for his Black Belt test — and the transformation his family has witnessed is, in his mom’s own words, “just incredible.”
Why He’s Earning His Black Belt
When Kaden first started, he didn’t have a clear reason for wanting a Black Belt. It was just something he was doing. But eight years of training changes a person — and it changed how Kaden sees everything.
He also recognizes something powerful: walking away now would invalidate eight years of growth — not just the physical tests and challenges, but the personal and emotional transformation that came with every class, every belt, every hard day he chose to show up anyway.

The Life Skills Kaden Built Over 8 Years
Martial arts training at Mastery Martial Arts goes far beyond kicks and punches — it builds the whole child.
Confidence
Kaden started as a shy kid with bad anxiety. Eight years later, while his anxiety isn’t entirely gone, he’s learned to control it — and carries himself with the quiet confidence of someone who has overcome real challenges.
Focus
Martial arts gave Kaden the structure and focus he needed — qualities that now contribute to every area of his everyday life, from school to home to everything in between.
Perseverance
The Apprentice Black Belt test was the hardest thing Kaden had ever faced. The exhaustion was discouraging — but every challenge he overcame gave him more willpower to take on the next one.
Respect
Black Belt, to Kaden, means being a living example of the pillars taught in class every day: Respect, Honesty, Self-Esteem, Belief, Discipline, and Communication — not just on the mat, but in life.
Discipline
Balancing school, regular karate, Demo Team, and Black Belt prep is no small feat. Kaden has learned that some things can’t be done halfway — and that discipline is what separates those who finish from those who don’t.
“Yes I Can!” Attitude
“I try to use a ‘Yes I can!’ attitude toward difficulties in my life. I might not deliberately say it, but I definitely feel it.” That mindset is Kaden’s greatest weapon — on and off the mat.
The Night He’ll Never Forget
Ask Kaden about his most memorable moment at Mastery Martial Arts, and he doesn’t hesitate: the Michigan Demo Team’s first championship in Rhode Island.
Months of preparation. One unforgettable night. A first-place trophy. And a memory that will last a lifetime.
His biggest role model through it all? Mr. Strecker.

What Kaden’s Mom Has to Say
In the past eight years of training, I have seen many changes in my child. He was shy, had bad anxiety and was temperamental. The changes I have witnessed are just incredible.
He has worked so hard through the years and has overcome so many obstacles. The difference from when he started to now is just wow! He has truly taken what he has learned from his martial arts journey into his everyday life. He has grown into a respectable young man who can stand tall with confidence.
I would recommend Mastery Martial Arts to other parents. It’s the best thing I did for my son. We both love the program.
