More Than Most Kids Face
Kyleighs journey at Mastery Martial Arts wasnt smooth. She faced real obstacles that tested her character:
A broken elbow requiring surgery. A hand injury from board training. A prolonged illness lasting months. Any one of these could have been a reason for Kyleigh to quit.
But Kyleigh learned something crucial: being honest with herself about her limits, paired with an unshakeable belief in her capability. She kept showing up to class at Mastery. She stayed disciplined. And she proved to herself that hard things are worth doing.

When Kyleigh broke the brown board at a Rhode Island competition – her first time attempting advanced boards – she didnt place. But she was so proud of herself for advancing as far as she did. That moment taught Kyleigh that success isn’t always about medals. It’s about showing up and trying something hard.
Her favorite training activities? Extensions, tornado kicks, and board breaking. Her biggest role model at Mastery? Mr. Pai, who she describes as “a great leader, kind, and an amazing role model.”
