We only teach kids

A four-year-old and an eleven-year-old need completely different things from an instructor. We run five separate age groups, so your child is never the baby of the class and never the one standing around bored.

Long enough to work hard. Short enough that a young child stays with it the whole time, and short enough that you are not stuck in a lobby for ninety minutes on a school night.

Mr. Strecker has taught children martial arts since 1992. He holds four black belts and has written two Amazon best-selling books for parents. He is on the floor teaching, not sitting in an office.

Warren is a big city. It runs from 8 Mile all the way up to 14 Mile, and we want to be straight with you about that. If you live in the north end, above 13 Mile, we are close. Fourteen Mile Road is your northern border, and our school sits about two and a half miles north of it on Rochester Road.
If you live down near 8 or 9 Mile, we are honestly a longer drive than we would want for a twice-a-week class. We would rather say that now than have you find out in February.

Programs
Our Programs by Age
Tiny Tigers
Thirty minutes of listening, taking turns, and following a two-step instruction. Most of what a three-year-old learns here is how to be part of a group. Parents usually notice the listening at home before they notice any kicking.
Little Dragons
This is the age where confidence takes root or does not. Kids start leading parts of class, calling out counts, and getting comfortable being looked at. That is a big deal for a shy five-year-old.
Kids Karate
Old enough for real technique and real goal setting. This is where the Personal Power Plan starts, and where kids learn that being corrected is not the same as being in trouble.
Kids Karate
Middle school is coming. This group works on holding your ground without being aggressive, handling pressure from other kids, and staying steady when you are the new person in the room.
Teen Martial Arts
Teens stay because it is the one place in their week that is not graded, not posted, and not a competition with their friends. Many move into helping teach the younger classes.

The first 30 days are free, uniform included. Enroll at the end of the introductory lesson and the 30-Day Pass takes $50 a month off for as long as your child keeps training. Beginners enroll on a six month agreement, and we go through it with you in person before you sign anything. Classes run six days a week, Monday through Saturday.

How far is Mastery Martial Arts from Warren?
We are at 3656 Rochester Road in Troy, about two and a half miles north of 14 Mile Road, which is Warren’s northern border. From the north end of Warren it is an 8 to 18 minute drive depending on where you start. From 14 Mile and Dequindre it is about 8 minutes.
What ages do you teach?
Ages 3 through 17, split into five separate groups: Tiny Tigers 3 to 4, Little Dragons 5 to 6, Kids Karate 7 to 9, Kids Karate 10 to 12, and Teen Martial Arts 13 to 17.
Do you have adult or family classes?
No. We are a kids-only school and we intend to stay that way. Every class, every instructor, and every part of the curriculum is built for children. If you are looking for adult training, we are not the right fit and we will tell you that on the phone.
How much do classes cost?
Tuition depends on how often your child trains: $149 a month once a week, $249 for two to three times a week, and $299 for unlimited. Enroll at the end of the free introductory lesson and the 30-Day Pass takes $50 a month off any of those for as long as your child keeps training, so $99, $199 and $249. You get the exact number for your child before you enroll.
Do you offer a trial?
Yes. A free 1-on-1 introductory lesson, then 30 free days of regular classes with the uniform included. No cost and no obligation. If it is not a fit, you stop and you owe nothing.
Is the drive from Warren actually worth it?
If you are in north Warren, we think so, and the first 30 days are free so you can find out without spending anything. If you are in south Warren near 8 or 9 Mile, be honest with yourself about a 25 minute drive twice a week in January. We would rather you find something closer than quit in eight weeks.
How often do classes meet?
Classes run six days a week, Monday through Saturday. Most families come twice a week. Each class is 30 minutes.
My child is shy. Will they be okay?
Shy kids are most of who walks in here. Nobody gets put on the spot on day one. We start them at the back, let them watch, and move them forward when they are ready. The goal for a shy child in the first month is simply to answer out loud so the room can hear it.
My child has a lot of energy and does not listen. Can you help?
That is the other half of who walks in here. A 30-minute class with clear rules and constant movement is a good match for a kid who cannot sit still. We are not going to yell them into behaving. We give them something hard enough to be worth their attention.
What if we start and it is not a fit?
You stop. The first 30 days are free, so you find that out before you have paid anything. There is nothing to get out of.
Do you teach anything besides karate?
No. We teach kids karate. We do not offer boxing, jiu-jitsu, judo, kickboxing, kung fu, or summer camps. One thing, done well, for children only.
What should my child wear to the first class?
Comfortable clothes they can move in, and bare feet. We provide the uniform during the free 30 days, so there is nothing to buy before you know whether you are staying.
